This page contains answers to common questions handled by our support staff, along with some tips and tricks that we have found useful and presented here as questions.
  1. Where do I find additional weather data?
  2. How accurate are the simulation tools linked to BDA 3.0 Beta2?

Where do I find additional weather data?

The BDA software comes with TMY2 weather files for several US cities.  You can get additional TMY2 weather files from here.  Please read the BDA Manual for instructions on importing them into the BDA environment. You can also get weather files from other sources. These files, however, may need to be converted into TMY2 format before they can be used. A description of the TMY2 format is given here.

How accurate are the simulation tools linked to BDA?

The simulation tools that are linked to the BDA software (DCM, ECM and DOE-2) are accurate enough for decision-making in the early, schematic phases of building design. For more accurate and detailed results for daylighting and electric lighting you will have to wait for a later version of the BDA, which will be linked to Radiance.
