Building Energy Efficiency

Brief Description 

Indian Commercial and Residential sector is growing at a very fast rate. As a result, energy consumption in buildings is on the radar screen of policy makers and Ministry of Power is interested in making the sector more energy efficient. LBNL's PEPS-India project also has a strong building energy efficiency element wherein LBNL, with support from USEPA and USAID India Mission, is working with Maharashtra Government to improve energy efficiency in the public sector buildings. The following topics under building energy efficiency are getting increasing attention:

• Building Codes and Standards
• Green Buildings
• Energy Efficiency Retrofits (Energy Audits, Benchmarking, Measurement and Verification)
• Energy Simulation Tools
• HVAC Design and Operation and Maintenance
• Training of architects and engineers in the design of energy efficient buildings
